Hajj Tips

✅ Do:

  1. Drink lots of water. Keep a water bottle with you and refill it often.
  2. Eat healthy food. Choose food that is easy to digest and doesn’t upset your stomach.
  3. Rest in the shade whenever possible. Use an umbrella to protect yourself from the sun.
  4. Follow instructions from guides and authorities.
  5. Wear comfortable shoes – you will walk a lot.
  6. Keep your ID and important items in a safe bag.
  7. Make dua (prayers) often and remember the purpose of Hajj.

❌ Don’t:

  1. Don’t eat food that has caused you problems before.
  2. Don’t walk in the sun unless you have to.
  3. Don’t fight, argue, or get angry – it goes against the spirit of Hajj.
  4. Don’t litter or leave trash behind.
  5. Don’t push or rush in crowds – be careful and respectful.
  6. Don’t ignore signs or rules – they are there for your safety.
Farḍ in Hajj (فرض)
  1. Ihram: Wear the Ihram attire (two pieces of unstitched cloth for men) with the intention of performing Hajj before reaching Miqat.
  2. Standing at Arafat: Spending the day at the plain of Arafat, considered the heart of the Hajj rituals.
  3. Staying in Muzdalifah: Remaining in Muzdalifah, a location between Arafat and Mina, during the night.
  4. Stoning the Jamarat: The act of throwing pebbles at the pillars (Jamarat) in Mina, a symbolic representation of rejecting evil.
  5. Sacrificing an Animal (Qurbani): Sacrificing an animal in Mina, a symbol of obedience and gratitude.
  6. Shaving or Cutting Hair: Shaving the head for men, or cutting the hair for women, symbolizing a release from the restrictions of Ihram.
  7. Tawaf al-Ziyarah: Circumambulating the Kaaba seven times, a ritual performed after the standing at Arafat.
  8. Sa'i (Running Between Safa and Marwa):While this is a Sunnah act, it's often included in discussions about Hajj's key components.
Types of Hajj
Types of Hajj
1. Hajj al-Tamattu’
Umrah and Hajj performed with a break in between during the same Hajj season. Enter Ihram before Umrah, Exit after Umrah, most probably you have multiple days before Hajj(Break), on 8th Dul Haj Enter Ihram again, till third day (Head shave) -> Exit
People from Pakistan perform this type of Hajj (22-40 Days)
2. Hajj al-Qiran
Umrah and Hajj performed together with **no break**; both are done with one Ihram.
3. Hajj al-Ifrad
Only Hajj is performed (no Umrah). Mostly done by residents of Makkah or nearby. (People inside the Miqat(ميقات) boundry)
